Bat Review:
We tested the Miken RECOIL ASA model on 5-19-2007. We tested a 28oz model on a 300 ft. field. The temp. was about 75 degrees and there was a slight wind blowing out to left center. We used a mix of Miken NRG 375 & 525 compression softballs. The bat was a little bit tight out of the wrapper like most ASA bats but started to really loosen up after 60 - 70 hits. Once it did break in it was a really impressive bat. I'd say it outhits the Freak 98 & NRG 500 easily. This is Miken's best ASA produced bat since the original Freak. The line drives were hard and the bat had no problem hitting the ball out at 300 feet. The sweet spot is enormous and is the #1 feature to this bat. It has a 14.5 inch barrel with over half of that being sweet spot. The Miken RECOIL ASA model is without a doubt a top performer for ASA play and it also hit the low compression balls extremely well.

Slow Pitch Softball Swing - What am I doing wrong?
I've played baseball all my life. I started playing softball about 4 years ago. I usually hit very well every year, mostly gap shots and Home runs. I'd mostly hit for power and usually drive the ball more often then not.
This year I don't know what I am doing wrong. I'm getting base hits, but I am not really hitting with authority like I usually do.
A few things to know:
- I just bought a new bat, still breaking it in(Miken ASA Recoil Maxload)
- All my hits seem to be dead center
- Have yet to pull the ball really
- I have a closed stance
- Quick bat speed
- I like the ball low and those seem to be the one's I drive the best
It almost seems like I am waiting too long to start my swing possibly? Should I move up on the plate or be further back? I am thinking about going with an open stance and see if I can start pulling the ball more.
opening your stance will help alot. since you like the lower ones so much maybe you should try scooting back a bit. let the ball get further into the zone. and for pulling the ball i have found it a little easier by takin your foot thats closest to the pitcher and movin it in towards the plate a little bit

Which slow pitch bat is better???
I'm torn between two bats. The Easton Synergry CNT Flex from 2008 and the miken recoil Maxload. I'm in an ASA league and I've hit with the easton and loved it, but I've heard so many good things about the Recoil. I've found them both on Ebay for the same price so now it just comes down to which is the better bat.
All of my bats are easton
that being said i dont own a single wooden bat lol
