The Miken Rain Light Fastpitch Softball Bat is unchanged from last year EXCEPT they’ve changed the sizing from a -9 drop to this year’s -12 drop. Meaning, last year the bat was marketed to strong, power hitters but this year the Miken Rain Light Fastpitch Softball Bat is sized for younger, small-to-medium strength players who need a lighter bat to generate appropriate bat speed. The Miken Rain Light Fastpitch Softball Bat is also an effective bat for slappers.
It is still a very responsive composite bat and the ball really "pops" off it – important for slappers who try to hit over the head of charging infielders.
This is a balanced bat with a nice sized sweet spot. The Miken "extreme" knob does help players to better control the bat.
The Miken Rain Light Fastpitch Softball Bat also seems to be reasonably durable. As always, it is important to try the Miken Rain 100 Fastpitch Softball Bat before you buy it, if you can.

Based in Hillsboro, Oregon, DeMarini released the world's first multiwall softball bat in 1993. Since then, DeMarini has produced a variety of fast-pitch softball bats, including the CF4 and CF3. Using a blend of composite materials and features, the CF4 and CF3 have similarities, but they differ slightly to match the demands of players.
DeMarini produces the CF4 and CF3 fastpitch softball bats in a variety of lengths and weights to accommodate different ability levels, ages and hitting styles. The bats are labeled with a weight-to-length ratio that relates the overall length to weight. For example, a 30-inch bat weighing 20 oz. has a weight-to-length ratio expressed as minus-10. The CF4, however, is available in three weight-to-length ratios, including minus-8, minus-9 and minus-10, while the CF3 is only available in minus-10. The various sizes of the CF4 make it ideal for players who want a heavier bat without adding overall length.
Both the DeMarini CF4 and CF3 are made with a blend of composite materials, but the quality of the materials differs between the models. The CF4 has a Pitch Black Plus material that uses composites combined with a Silver Trace bonding agent that adds strength and power potential to the barrel. The CF3 is made with a thin wall of Pitch Black material with no additional fillers.
The CF4 and CF3 bats contain a Pitch Black handle for maximized strength and flex. It provides a comfortable grip and reduced vibration. The CF4 includes a variegated comfort grip that increases comfort and tack.
Fast-pitch softball bats usually are regulated by organizations and leagues for size, weight and performance. Anderson Bats began when three individuals from very different professional backgrounds were brought together by their shared passion for diamond sports and desire to produce a better bat.
This passion goes back many years, but it was in 1996 that they manufactured their first model in a private labeling venture for another bat company. In 1999, they designed and produced their first multiwall bat featuring the patented Power-Arch Technology. After development was completed, the company it was designed for underwent a major upheaval and delayed the bat’s release.
Rather than allowing this groundbreaking performance technology to sit on the back burner, Anderson took the bats to a local tournament and shared the design with members of the extended diamond sports family. The response was overwhelming, and the company was bombarded with inquiries on "How do I get my hands on one of those Anderson bats?" And .... the anderson bat company was born.
The Anderson Bat Company vision is Game Improvement by Design. It is a strong desire to be interwoven into the fabric of our national pastime and to have Anderson Bat Company become synonymous with better baseball and better softball.

The unique 3 piece design allows the barrel and the handle to be designed and built as individual units. The Bubble Transition Zone brings everything together to function as a more advanced one piece bat. The BT Zone functions as the bonding of the barrel and handle and provides a stiffer handle and transition.
Louisville Slugger uses exclusive computer designed pattern precisely positions the angles of graphite layers, resulting in an extra long barrel with a huge sweet spot for outstanding performance.
